Class Sessions are 8-weeks long and meet once a week for 2-hours unless otherwise specified.

Welcome to the wonderful world of cartooning! This fun 4-week class lays the foundation of what it is to be a cartoonist and how to enjoy drawing cartoons for work and play.
You'll be introduced to developing your drawing techniques, deciding on art materials, and preparing your artistic understanding as a cartoonist.
You'll also learn a fun history of cartoons as they link to different genres such as comic books, comic strips, animation, greeting cards, web games, book illustrations, and many others.
From how to do it as a job, to simply how to draw a funny note for friend or family. . . this is the foundation class for the other classes taught at the Cartoonist Academy.

Do you want to learn how to create and draw your own cartoon characters? With demonstrations and examples, each 2-hour class of the full 8-week course is designed to take beginner and experienced cartoonists through assignments that will define and refine their cartooning skills. They will gain knowledge and training to draw cartoon characters, and find the confidence and inspiration to create their own cartoon creations.

PREREQUISITE: Foundations of Cartooning
Starting here with LEVEL 1, you'll learn the basics of character design. Assignments will be based on in-class demonstrations and examples. The foundation of creating characters starts here. You'll learn fun ways to create and invent new cartoon characters.
Along with paper and pencils for class work, ALL STUDENTS receive a special Cartoonist Academy sketchbook as part of the class.

Level 1 and 2 will now be the foundation for artists that can join an advanced continuing class which will create custom assignments for each student's level of cartooning. Studies and training will be towards refining skills and developing toward portfolio quality work.

Do you want to learn how to draw and make comic books? In this class, with demonstrations and examples, beginner and experienced cartoonists will learn the art and craft of creating comics. Each 2-hour class of the full 8-week course is designed to guide through the process from Cover to last page, as they work to create a finished short comic book story by the end of the semester.

Spend an entire day learning storytelling techniques to help your stories feel strong and entertaining. Gain the methods and tools to help break through creative blocks and assist you with your own stories. Whether you want to write children's books, comics, animation, or novels, this workshop is designed to inspire the inner storyteller in you.
